Pairing detectors
Procedure
You add new wireless detectors and devices like this:
- Sensors → List → Pair (starts the panel's learning mode). The panel's learning window is time-limited – the interface shows the countdown.
- Press the pairing button on the new device (see the detector's manual – usually a long press on the learn button or inserting the battery).
- The detected device appears in the findings list with type and signal strength.
- Adopt: assign area, zone and a descriptive name ("Front door contact" instead of "Device 12") and confirm.
- The device then appears in the sensor list and can be used in rules and scenes.
Permission required: Pairing requires the "Pair detectors" permission on this panel.
If adoption fails
The two most common messages and what they mean:
- "Learning mode was no longer active." – The time window had expired. Restart learning mode and adopt the device while the window is open.
- "The panel no longer knows this finding." – Too much time passed between detection and adoption. Press the pairing button on the detector again and adopt it right away.
The Alarmanlagenmanager verifies after adoption that the panel really created the device – only then does it report success. (On VESTA panels it subsequently applies your desired area, zone and name, since the panel initially assigns its own values.)
Pairing via AI
Assistants can also start learning mode and adopt findings ("Pair detectors" permission required): "Start learning mode – I'll press the button on the new door contact in a moment." Pressing the pairing button on the device naturally remains manual work.
Tips
- Pair detectors near the panel and only then mount them at their final location – check the signal strength there via Sensors → Range.
- Choose names that also work well in voice commands: "Hallway light" can be spoken, "L-FL-01" cannot.
