Arming and disarming

Where to switch

You change your system's mode in two places:

  • directly in the Home view (buttons per area),
  • under Alarm system → Mode & status, which additionally shows details per area.

The modes

  • Armed – all detectors of the area are monitored; a trigger raises the alarm.
  • Home mode – presence monitoring: the outer shell (doors, windows) is armed, indoor motion detectors don't trigger. Depending on the model there are several home levels.
  • Disarmed – no intrusion monitoring; 24-hour detectors (smoke, water, tamper) of course stay active.

If your panel has several areas (e.g. flat and basement separated), you switch each area individually – or all together via the corresponding button.

User code: when it is required

VESTA / Blaupunkt / Egardia: When switching, the Alarmanlagenmanager always asks for the user code and checks it against the panel's codes. This is deliberate and a security gain: the VESTA firmware itself would accept switching commands without a code – we don't allow that. Important:

  • The area's user codes apply (Alarm system → PIN codes) as well as cross-area codes, plus duress and one-time codes.
  • The administrator code does not count – the panel itself rejects it when switching.
  • The code is only compared, never stored or logged.

Lupus: Here the panel's own configuration decides whether a code is required – the Alarmanlagenmanager passes the operation through unchanged.

Delays and feedback

Entry and exit delays are set by the panel (Alarm system → Settings). After switching, the interface reports the new state as soon as the panel confirms it – with a running exit delay, only after it has elapsed.

Alarm

If the system triggers, you see it everywhere in the interface:

  • The panel view's header turns red and shows the alarm.
  • In the Cockpit the affected panel blinks (row view).
  • The event log (System → Log) records which detector triggered when.

To end the alarm, disarm the affected area. Whether and how long sirens sound is governed by the siren settings (Alarm system → Siren settings).

Switching by voice and AI

  • Alexa: "Alexa, arm the alarm system" – requires the Alexa link with the arm/disarm option and the stored user code; for disarming, Alexa additionally asks for a spoken code. See Alexa.
  • ChatGPT / Claude: The assistant asks for the user code with every switching command in the chat – it is never stored. See ChatGPT and Claude.

In both cases: only someone with the arm/disarm permission on this panel can switch.
