Glossary
A–L
Area – logical subdivision of a system (e.g. flat / basement) armed separately.
AI key – access key for assistants and your own programs, per panel and with a scope. See AI access.
Cockpit – the overview of all panels after signing in.
Connected services – the list of links created via account sign-in (Alexa, ChatGPT, MCP clients) under AI access; disconnectable there.
Contact ID – reporting protocol to monitoring stations (Alarm system → Reporting).
Detector – umbrella term for the system's sensors (door/window contact, motion, smoke, water detectors …).
Home mode – partially armed: outer shell monitored, interior free.
Installer – professional account that sets up and supports customer accounts and systems. See Installers.
Learning mode – time window in which the panel accepts new wireless devices. See Pairing detectors.
M–S
Main user – the user a panel belongs to; has all permissions on it and grants access.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) – open standard through which AI
assistants use tools. The Alarmanlagenmanager is an MCP server:
https://alarmanlagenmanager.de/api/v1/mcp.
OAuth – the sign-in procedure by which ChatGPT, Claude or Alexa link your account without seeing your password: you sign in with us and release panel + scope.
Operating mode (VESTA) – "direct" (panel talks to our server, manufacturer out of the loop) or "proxy" (we relay between panel and manufacturer, whose app keeps working).
P2P remote connection – outgoing, encrypted connection from the Lupus panel to our server; makes port forwarding unnecessary.
Profile / rule group (Lupus) – the ordering system of Lupus automation; a rule only runs inside a group of an active profile. See Rule groups and profiles.
Provisioning – the one-time switch-over of a VESTA panel to our server during setup.
Scene – bundled actions under one name, applicable at the touch of a button. See Scenes.
T–Z
TOTP / 2FA – two-factor sign-in with time-based one-time codes from an authenticator app. See Account security.
UPIC / universal remote control – IR transmitter on Lupus panels for air conditioners, TVs and the like.
User code – the system's numeric code for arming/disarming. Not to be confused with the administrator code (configuration) or the portal password (signing in here).
Access – the menu item where the main user manages other users' permissions on a panel. See Access and permissions.
Zone – a detector's slot number within its area.
